Mumbai Indians is one of the most successful teams in the IPL and have won the title thrice all under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
They will be playing the first match of this IPL against CSK who are coming into the IPL after 2 years. Mumbai made some surprising decisions in the auction by leaving out star players like Harbhajan, Simmons, Mcclenaghan, Malinga and Parthiv Patel. They invested big bucks in youngsters by looking after the future and retained Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik before the auctions. So now let us Analyze the squad of Mumbai.
Rohit Sharma will be the main strength of the squad as he is the heart of Mumbai’s batting unit and take over the opposition with his destructive batting if he gets going. He has huge experience in T20’s so he will be once again trying to get best out of his team. His captaincy, field placements, and bowling changes have been fantastic over the years when he leads a side.
Mumbai Indians’ strength lies in the number of all-rounders that they have in the squad. Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya. The trio has the ability to hit the big ones and are very handy with the ball too. Pollard and Hardik, in particular, have played some blistering knocks that have led their side to wins from tricky situations.
Another strong department is their bowling, especially the left-arm seamers. Mustafizur Rahman, Jason Behrendroff and Pradeep Sangwan would come handy for the defending champions. Apart from them, Australia’s Pat Cummins is another fast bowler who can rip apart the opposition and trouble the batsmen.
The spin department is weak for Mumbai as they have no big names in the squad. They brought Akila but don’t think so he will get a game as many as they can have only 4 overseas players in the playing eleven. Mostly youngster Rahul will be assisting Krunal in the spin department.
Weak in batting unit as they don’t have any players other than Rohit and Yadav who can stable the innings in the middle. Lad will get some matches in this season due to his stellar form in Ranji but he lacks experience and they don’t have big names in this section.
Ishan Kishan has a good platform to showcase his talent as he is the only Keeper in the squad apart from Tare. But he will be getting more games as the management has spent whopping 6.2 crores based on his impressive domestic performance. If he performs well with the bat and Keeping, he can be the next Wicket-keeper after Dhoni for India.
